As the Manager, Raw Materials Development, you will be responsible for
developing the materials that enable our vertical future and fuel our continued
growth. You will lead our raw materials development team with ideas, energy, and
your proven technical expertise. This dynamic opportunity requires decision
making processes that incorporate a broad range of stakeholders: Design,
Sourcing, and Advanced Concepts to name a few. Success will depend on your
ability to lead a team that develops best in class performance materials in
alignment with our design philosophy, meeting our guests’ evolving needs and
keeping on cost.
Meet Your Future Team:
The Raw Materials Development team is part of the broader Raw Materials team
that includes Raw Materials Sourcing and Colour Operations.

If you were the Manager, Raw Materials Development now, here are some of the
core activities you would be doing:
- Leveraging your development experience to guide and grow a team of
developers. Minimizing risk on the cutting edge.
- Diving deep on the big picture by understanding how the materials you develop
today need to meet the business needs of tomorrow. Understanding how your
team’s work is a key enabler to future growth and strategic priorities.
- Editing our materials library and building a toolbox, best in class and ready
to scale.
- Meeting with key cross functional teams across the organization to ensure
alignment. Seeing what they don’t and communicating it clearly and with
gravity.
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Collaborating with the Advanced Concepts team to develop a go to market plan
for material innovations.
- Working with sourcing teams to design local supply chains that bring agility
and resiliency to our business.
- Providing the unlock to complex sustainability problems such as product end
of life and water usage.
- Participating in the development of speed to market strategies that compress
lead times and bring our product to more markets faster, ensuring that we
never miss an opportunity.
Are you our next Manager, Raw Materials Development?
- You have 7 + years’ experience in the apparel industry with a focus on
textile development, including 3+ years’ experience leading teams.
- You have a degree in Materials Science or related field, or equivalent
experience
- You can think strategically and balance the needs of multiple cross
functional teams.
- You have the ability to translate a designer’s vision into a raw material
that meets the Arc’teryx quality standards.
- You know when to use your voice and take a stand on important ethical and
sustainability issues that impact our business.
- You know the value of data to drive decision making and have a desire to
employ the latest in data management technologies across and organization.
- You can incorporate and understand both lab testing data and experiential
feedback from field testing.

$106,000 - $146,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$106,000 - CAD$146,000 at the time
of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such
as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. The upper
end of the range is typically reserved for candidates with demonstrated
expertise that is above job requirements or who bring exceptional directly
transferable experience.
Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not
include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
