Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the F&B Manager, this Banquet Server is responsible for serving the guests beverages with the strictest regard to rules, regulations and outlet operational guidelines while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. This position may serve in a restaurant, buffet operation, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre, in in-room dining or other areas. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Assisting with room and table set up
Performing pre and post shift duties, folding napkins, filling condiments etc.
Clearing tables, removing glasses and re-stocking if required
Takes guest orders and makes recommendations
Prepares beverages
Serving guests menu items in a prompt and courteous manner and checking to ensure satisfaction
Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance
Presents bill upon request and takes payment in the absence of a cashier
Cleans tables or counters, removes glasses and re-stocks when applicable
Performs opening or closing duties as required
Counts cash float at end of shift (if applicable)
Covers other bartender sections when required
Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages
Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership and team members
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Qualification Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent working experience;
Working knowledge on liquor and wine handling preferred
Previous cash handling P.O.S system experience an asset;
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, customer service and communication skills;
Must be people-focused and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service;
Proactive and solution oriented with a drive to succeed;
Demonstrate strong initiative, active listening and teamwork skills;
Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team;
Ability to professionally handle situations that may arise due to intoxicated guests
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to obtain NB Responsible Beverage Certification
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must be 19 years of age or older
Work Environment Considerations
Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables;
This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, and will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
