Consider this opportunity. Ontario Health is seeking a strategic and experienced Advisor to lead high-impact initiatives that optimize the province’s health workforce. This consultative role provides subject matter expertise to departmental leadership and cross-functional teams. You'll shape research frameworks, drive knowledge dissemination, and advise on evidence-based staffing models, team-based care, and system-level delivery—ensuring robust, streamlined healthcare across Ontario. The Advisor is a key decision maker relied upon for authoritative guidance on health workforce planning and optimization. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, mentor emerging talent, and translate complex evidence into actionable insights. Here is what you will be doing: Strategic Planning & Advisory Support Advise the Director and teams on workforce planning, data strategies, and research. Contribute to departmental strategic plans, emphasizing knowledge mobilization. Research, Analysis & Dissemination Lead development of frameworks, metrics, and tools to support evidence-informed workforce planning. Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on current and future staffing models. Produce reports, manuscripts, webinars, and presentations tailored to stakeholders—policy makers, planners, internal teams, and external partners. Support the Knowledge Hub and expert panels with high-quality data and analysis. Summarize findings for technical and general audiences. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Build relationships across Ontario’s health system including hospitals, regulators, and clinical leaders. Engage stakeholders through surveys, interviews, and forums to ensure relevance of knowledge products. Collaborate with internal teams to leverage innovative dissemination tools such as infographics, podcasts, social media, and panels. Project & Team Leadership Lead and execute operational and research initiatives. Manage resources to support successful project delivery. Identify risks and recommend strategies for improvement amid changing priorities and policy landscapes. Mentor junior team members and foster collaborative, high-performance culture. Relationship Management Maintain strong internal and external networks to stay current on emerging trends and best practices. Provide guidance and build trust among colleagues and external stakeholders. Ensure high-quality standards and timely delivery of work products. Here is what you will need to be successful: Education and Experience: Master’s degree in health, public health, epidemiology, or a health-related profession. Strong preference will be given to a candidate with experience as a regulated health professional. 3-5 years work experience in the Ontario Health System with a wide range of clinical and administrative stakeholders. Experience in engaging technical and clinical audiences to gather research/best practices/analysis requirements, interpret results and information to facilitate decision-making. Experience using healthcare and demographic datasets and standards, including CIHI (DAD, NACRS, CCRS, NRS), RPDB, OHIP, ON-MARG, and Statistics Canada census considered an asset. Experience working in a health human resources-related role, including understanding of both health professional and healthcare organizational perspectives an asset. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of health workforce best practices associated with staffing models and system level care delivery to optimize the health workforce. Knowledge of relevant health human resources stakeholders, regulators, and associations to support research, data collection and information sharing. Demonstrated ability to appraise evidence and research to evaluate its quality, importance, and applicability. Judgement, planning and organizations skills to ensure that research, analysis, and information needs are established and met, with priorities and deadlines being observed in support of the achievement of overall departmental goals. Advisory and communication skills to collaborate with a broad range of contacts, to deliver analytical/research reports and provide expert input. Strong written and communication skills to prepare reports and lead presentations. Project planning & management. Adept at balancing concurrent tasks and projects and works effectively in a dynamic working environment. Strong problem-solving, research, and critical thinking capability. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgement in setting priorities, identifying issues and determining the action(s) required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite in particular Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel Ability to work collaboratively to determine work objectives as well as in self-directed manner as defined within the overall context of the project plan. Strong ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility to pivot to adapt to changing demands. Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect. Strong technical skills, including the ability collect, analyze, and present data.
