As a Mechanical Designer, you will focus on developing mechanical elements for our underwater acoustic systems. You’ll play a key role in supporting the design, build and test of mechanical components, while maintaining project documentation and collaborating with the project team to ensure project success. Responsibilities
Complete detailed mechanical design, including manufacturing part and assembly drawings, for winch and cable handling products and acoustic systems.
Review designs for manufacturability, completeness, and compliance to project requirements, industry standards and company guidelines.
Develop concept designs based on proposed requirements.
Create and maintain part and assembly revisions, descriptions, and BOM history in SolidWorks EPDM.
Support component procurement, build and test of system components and sub-assemblies, including acoustic components, winches, electronics enclosures and racks.
Maintain and update project files and documentation.
Collaborate with project team to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues.
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical Engineering technologist, Electro-Mechanical technologist, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years experience in mechanical design.
Proficient in the use of 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting (preferably SolidWorks).
Experience in reading engineering documentation, mechanical part and assembly drawings and BOMs.
Practical experience designing in the marine industry for surface and sub-surface systems.
Practical design testing experience.
Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SolidWorks EPDM.
Passionate about building, testing, and producing a quality product.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Security Requirements
