Primary Responsibilities
The EDI Coordinator is responsible for managing, monitoring, and supporting all aspects of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) process to ensure the seamless exchange of data between our company and trading partners. This role involves working closely with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and IT resources to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established EDI standards.
Essential Functions
Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
Manage day-to-day EDI operations including monitoring transactions, troubleshooting errors, and ensuring successful transmission of documents (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices).
Act as the primary point of contact for EDI-related inquiries from internal teams and external partners.
Coordinate the onboarding of new EDI trading partners, including mapping, testing, and implementation of document transactions.
Maintain and update EDI mapping, specifications, and trading partner profiles.
Monitor system performance and proactively address EDI failures or discrepancies.
Collaborate with IT teams to resolve system issues, perform upgrades, and test EDI-related enhancements.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and partner requirements.
Generate and distribute EDI-related reports for business and operational needs.
Train internal users on EDI processes and requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of processes, mapping, and partner configurations.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of hands-on experience with EDI technologies and integrations with 3rd party partners.
Understanding of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS) and communication protocols (AS2, FTP/SFTP, VAN, API).
Experience in mapping tools (e.g., IBM Sterling, GXS/Inovis, Cleo, Boomi, MuleSoft, etc.).
Has worked with ERP systems such as SAP (IDoc), Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
Experience with EDI providers, SPS Commerce, CommerceHub.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
Experience leading EDI onboarding teams or projects.
Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, retail, or manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms (iPaaS).
Certification in EDI or related integration platforms.
