Job Description What is the opportunity? The Junior Data Scientist, Global Procurement and Shared Services is mandated to develop and maintain data assets supporting procurement and sourcing activities while following industry trends and pushing innovation throughout the department. Utilizing sophisticated tools and techniques the Junior Data Scientist, Global Procurement and Shared Services will develop and tune new and existing solutions used to understand contracts, analyze supplier and spend data and continuously look for opportunities to provide more relevant and valuable intelligence to the Global Procurement and Shared Services department. What will you do? Develop new Contract Analytics solutions with machine learning and data science techniques. Maintain and improve existing models, specifically with respect to contract analysis and entity matching. Identify opportunities in applying new technologies and models to Procurement and Sourcing activities. Develop required documentation and monitoring methodology for models and solutions, aligning with both the team and organizations standards. Implement pipelines to acquire and ingest data from structured and unstructured sources, while ensuring quality and comprehensiveness. Execute routine operational tasks to push data into the departmental data mart and reporting database to enable downstream reporting and dashboards. Lead data exploration and analytic projects and providing on-going coaching of big data topics (visualization, data mining, analytic techniques). Explore and implementing semantic data capabilities through NLP, text mining and machine learning techniques. Collaborate with the immediate team to develop and maintain solutions while fostering relationships with other technical teams within RBC, as well as business partners, industry peers and external vendors to better understand business processes and how data science can fit in. What do you need to succeed? Must Have Post-secondary education or equivalent. Strong data, analytical, quantitative method and problem-solving skills. Expertise in analyzing and manipulating large datasets with Python. Proficiency and familiarity with different SQL databases and GitHub. Nice to Have Graduate degree (Masters or MBA).
