Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Corporate Tax Associate's primary mandate is to assist with tax compliance, optimizing the legal entity structures and other tax planning
Job Duties
•Complete and/or verify Canadian and US income tax and sales tax returns and any required ancillary filings.
•Liaise with tax advisor in foreign jurisdictions (eg. Macau, Singapore, Bahamas) to ensure all tax-related obligations are met.
•Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual tax provision and ensure timely payments of taxes.
•Track and respond to tax assessments and notices of assessment in a timely manner.
•Manage all tax audits and inquiries, gather information and serve as the primary contact for regulatory/governmental agencies and external advisory firms.
•Accountable for drafting transfer pricing and coordinate with external consultants to prepare transfer pricing reports.
•Research, interpret and advise on the implications of changing tax legislation and related income and sales tax regulations/rules and present conclusions to the CFO and management team.
•Prepare the US State property taxes and Commerce tax filings
•Review US, Taiwan, Macau and Singapore tax provisions and file local tax returns on time
•Assist with SR&ED/R&D tax incentives and coordinate efforts with the business and external advisors.
•Assist with the budgeting, forecasting, tracking and monitoring of income taxes to optimize the cash flow.
•Lead tax planning and any reorganization projects, including research, coordinator with advisors and internal stakeholders.
•Lead implementation of reorganization steps working with internal and external finance and legal teams.
•Provide timely, high quality, exceptional service to internal stakeholders.
•Other duties and project work as assigned.
Must Have
•CPA designation.
•Be able to operate on a strategic and operational level.
•5 to 7 years of related tax experience at a manager level working with public or private businesses.
•Canadian In-Depth Tax Course or a Master of Tax, completed or in progress is required.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional technical skills and excellent attention to details.
•Strong team player with exceptional collaboration skills.
•Strong excel skills.
