Lumentum Canada was awarded the 2022 National Capital Region’s Top Employers for the 6th consecutive year and the 2022 Career Directory Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates for the 5th consecutive year. Key Responsibilities: Develop, refine, and support optical and electrical test setups for silicon photonics components and modules, including optical power monitors and integrated photonic circuits (PICs). Proven experience in integrated photonic and RF system development, including full lifecycle execution from concept through manufacturing. Create and maintain test procedures for photonic subsystems such as modulators, photodetectors, and wavelength/power monitor structures. Strong background in photonic chip design, simulation, statistical characterization, and hardware integration at the system level. Design and implement calibration algorithms to ensure precision in optical power and wavelength measurement, particularly in silicon photonic-based OCM systems. Demonstrated ability to support test development for manufacturing, including design for reliability and qualification testing. Experience participating in multiple integrated circuit (IC) tape outs, ideally as a design authority or design prime for complex photonic subsystems. Track record of delivering innovative, production-viable solutions to bridge performance gaps between R&D and manufacturing environments. Automate test and calibration routines using scripting tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Shell), ensuring integration with lab and manufacturing environments. Collect, process, and analyze measurement data to identify performance trends, optimize yield, and enhance system reliability. Lead root-cause investigations of test failures and develop corrective actions to improve overall process robustness and cost-efficiency. Work with functional and product development teams to incorporate calibration logic into both R&D and high-volume production environments, ensuring smooth transfer of test procedures from lab to line. Support the transition of calibration methodologies into scalable, production-ready solutions by collaborating closely with manufacturing, design, and test engineering teams. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align test and calibration methodology with product requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field. Experience in optical measurements, power monitoring, and photonic testing. Strong skills in algorithm development and data analysis.
