Programs at GTI range from small-scale developments measured in weeks, to multi-year developments of large-scale, complex systems. Working at GTI will give a co-op student the opportunity to be exposed to a broad range of technologies involved in marine acoustic systems. The student will work as part of one or more interdisciplinary design teams on the design and build of innovative underwater acoustic systems, under the guidance of experienced engineers and technologists. This will involve a combination of analytical and hands on work in a lab facility and possible participation in field trials.
Responsibilities:
Use a variety of tools (including Solidworks) to generate workable solutions to technical problems that impact GTI products and processes.
Support assembly and testing of mechanical systems.
Generate test plans and conduct system tests, document results, and draw conclusions for products and workflow improvement.
Investigate off-the-shelf technologies, obtain specs, quotes, and communicate with vendors.
Generate detailed part drawings using good drafting standards and consideration of fabrication methods.
Develop details BOMs and assembly drawing to define product configuration and build considerations.
Create internal procedures for building and testing hardware systems.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering degree program, in good academic standing.
Highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
Experience with fabricated parts and assembly methods is an asset
Experience using 3D CAD
Excellent time management skills.
Openness to learning new technologies.
Ability to solve problems in a creative and challenging environment.
