Kitchen Assistant – Employee Meal Program
Position: Full-Time Kitchen Assistant
Department: Food & Beverage Department
Reports To: Employee Meal Program Kitchen Manager & Executive Chef
Location: The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver
Position Summary
The Kitchen Assistant will support the planning, preparation, organization, and service of daily meals provided through the Employee Meal Program (EMP). This role ensures that staff meals are delivered in a timely, clean, and professional manner while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of daily employee meals, following set menus and portion guidelines.
Support the planning and organization of menu cycles in collaboration with the Employee Meal Program Manager and/or Executive Chef.
Set up and serve meals in the staff cafeteria, ensuring a welcoming and efficient service experience.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, cafeteria, and food service areas, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Monitor inventory levels of meal ingredients and supplies, and assist with receiving and proper storage of deliveries.
Handle kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
Ensure compliance with hotel and health & safety policies, as well as provincial food handling regulations.
Provide friendly, professional, and supportive service to team members throughout the day.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a kitchen, cafeteria, or catering environment preferred.
FoodSafe Level 1 (or equivalent) certification required.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, service-focused attitude.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
