About the Role
We are seeking a result and detail-driven Regulatory and Compliance Officer to oversee regulatory adherence and internal compliance across our organization. You will be responsible for designing and implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, and advising management on potential risks. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, legal knowledge, and a commitment to ethical business practices.
Responsibilities and Duties
Approve product labels, packaging, and advertising content to confirm they meet regulatory requirements.
Prepare technical documents such as TDS, SDS as per regulatory requirements. Prepare responses to deficiency letters (Notices of Non-Compliance, Notices of Deficiency, Screening Deficiency Notices and complaints) in a timely manner with minimal guidance.
Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documents, applications, and declarations to relevant government agencies for permits, certifications, and product registration.
Stay informed and interpret evolving regulations, policies, and guidelines that affect the company's chemical products and operations.
Maintain accurate records and databases related to regulatory compliance, including product data and submission files for future reference and audits.
Ensure the internal processes, product formulations, and manufacturing practices align with regulatory standards.
Serve as the point of contact between the company and regulatory bodies, managing communications and coordinating visits for audits and inspections.
Conduct internal audits of products and processes to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Support efforts to obtain necessary licenses and permits for chemical products to be sold or exported to different markets.
Assess regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Regular report on the compliance status and planned measures to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in providing training and guidance about regulatory affairs to non-experienced staff members and production crew.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience in interfacing with regulatory frameworks and bodies (e.g. waste management, CCPSA, Saskatchewan OHS division of LIRWS, Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment).
Excellent research and risk assessment skills
High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret complex regulations and policies
Discretion and integrity when handling confidential information
Proficiency in compliance management software/tools is a plus
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, chemistry technology, environmental science or environmental engineering or any related field
3–5 years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management role
Industry-specific experience (e.g. green cleaning manufacturing) is a strong advantage
