The Packaging Procurement Engineer will be responsible for creating and overseeing specifications, leading reengineering efforts, and acting as a liaison between corporate and plant sites by managing procurement projects and supplier implementations. What this role entails: Lead and oversee the development of comprehensive technical documentation, specifications, and engineering standards for multiple packaging categories; Serve as the primary technical authority and subject matter expert across all assigned packaging types, providing strategic direction and technical leadership; Drive the strategic development of breakthrough technical concepts and materials for packaging solutions through advanced collaboration with internal R&D teams and industry partners. Ensure the development of new technical concepts and materials to generate value and growth across efficiency and productivity programs; Lead complex packaging reformulation initiatives involving multiple product lines, generating substantial cost reductions through advanced engineering analysis and strategic case studies; Lead Design to Value programs across the packaging team, establishing best practices and training methodologies throughout the organization; Drive strategic innovation initiatives and establish the technical roadmap for packaging excellence across all business units; Lead and support the implementation of sourcing events and reformulation projects for the packaging category, minimizing business disruptions, in collaboration with internal stakeholders (including Quality, Operations, Engineering, R&D, and Sales) and external suppliers; Provide expert-level technical consulting and problem-solving support for complex, high-impact packaging challenges across multiple business units; Lead and manage major reengineering initiatives, including global packaging standardization projects and technology transfer programs; Support the Procurement team in addressing supplier quality/performance issues or improvement plans; Lead and oversee multiple high-complexity, high-value procurement events and strategic reformulation programs, ensuring minimal business disruption while maximizing value creation; Drive supplier development strategies, establish technical partnerships, and lead the evaluation and qualification of strategic suppliers and advanced technologies; Lead the resolution of complex supplier performance issues, drive supplier improvement programs, and establish strategic supplier development initiatives; Partner with Quality to conduct technical audits of packaging suppliers and SKUs; Lead complex technical trials, pilot programs, and advanced testing initiatives; Build strong relationships with supplier technical experts, fostering innovation and continuous improvement. What you need to join our team: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering science). Master’s degree in Engineering strongly preferred, with advanced specialization in packaging technology, material science, or related field; Advanced knowledge of packaging material properties, rigid and flexible plastics, corrugated and flat cardboard, MWB, others, material interactions, and packaging system design; Full understanding of product development processes, including stage-gate methodologies and advanced project management; Proven innovation leader with demonstrated ability to drive transformational change and develop breakthrough solutions; Bilingual (English / French); Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering or manufacturing required; Knowledge of supply chain or procurement preferred; Experience in packaging and materials for dairy/food products preferred.
