Aramark Remote Workplace Services is seeking an Occupational Safety Specialist to join our team. Occupational Safety Specialist is responsible to oversee our entire safety program for Remote camp operations in Cochrane, Ontario. The successful candidate must be able to build solid internal relationships with local Operations Team and to influence leaders to execute our programs effectively. This role requires the Occupational Safety Specialist to:
Work in Remote Lodge locations
Scheduled rotation for this position is 2 weeks on site and 2 weeks off
Remote Lodges/Camp experience is an asset

Implement the Aramark SAFE program
Develop and/or modify safety policies and programs
Analyze results and benchmark data and provide recommendations to leadership to improve safety performance
Minimize liability exposures
Initial point of contact for any safety incident and with enforcement agencies (Ministry of Labour, Public Health etc.)
Participate in all Board of Inquiries for safety incidents
Prepare and distribute results/findings to internal and external customers
Conduct audits and inspections
Complete risk assessments, identify opportunities and build plans to address the risk proactively
Draft and distribute monthly safety bulletin to all leaders at the remote Camp
Determine trends and create preventative corrective action plans
Ensure participation and alignment with site safety programs
Conduct new staff orientations
Investigate all safety events (both Occupational and Food Safety)
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in a role with Occupational Health and safety responsibilities
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, industry good practice
Must be comfortable with frequent computer usage; good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications is required
Strong organizational, leadership, time management and team influencing skills are essential for success in this role
General understanding of Ontario food safety regulations and safe food handling procedures
Previous experience working in remote camps, mining or similar industry would be a considerable asset
Previous experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) would be an asset
Certifications:
Valid JHSC certification - preferred
Advanced Food Handler Certification – preferred
Ability to demonstrate achievement or complete any additional certifications that may be required prior to start
CRSP, CRST or working towards another recognized professional designation would be an asset
