Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of Banquet Captain team this position is responsible to serve food and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). As part of the F&B team, the Banquet Server ensures quality service to all Casino and Theatre guests with emphasis on cleanliness, efficiency, accuracy, professionalism and courtesy at all times. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Arrive to work at scheduled time, dressed in the proper dress code adhering to all grooming standards
Advise management if supplies are required
Complete all opening and closing duties as posted in the opening/closing per shift duties schedule, as well as all daily cleaning tasks as assigned and listed on the Daily Cleaning Schedule
The server knows all individual menu items, alcoholic, non-alcoholic and food ingredients, methods of mixing or cooking, and prices
Setups: Check BEOs for following day to ensure that all information is correct. If any questions, see manager or catering. Ensure banquet standards are followed and maintained. Setups must have a high attention to detail. Buffets should be attractive
Serving: Reading the BEO in full detail and insuring that all aspects of the style of service are understood. Ability to carry an oval tray confidently over your shoulder with a minimum of 8 entre plates with lids. Server must be confident at carrying plates for service and for clearing. Communication with the guests should be professional, courteous and efficient
Organization and Maintenance of Back of House: Proper control and storage of all banquet supplies such as linen, props, dry goods, coffee equipment, carts, perishables, pop, liquor, equipment, etc. are required. On a continuous basis, keep service corridors, pre-function space, and storage areas clean, organized and unobstructed. Ensure all side duties are done as assigned and done correctly . Let captain/manager know if we are running low on any supplies early enough so we do not run out. All fire and safety regulations are to be followed and any discrepancies reported to manager or security
Food and beverage items will always be served using a tray where logistically appropriate
It is the responsibility of the server to ensure that the side stations are maintained in a neat, clean and orderly fashion at all times. All debris, garbage and food scraps are disposed of by the server and not the dish person
In addition to duties described in the job description the banquet server will be required to occasionally work as a cashier, coat check attendant, house person and bartender.
Banquet Servers are to ensure that all rules, regulations and guidelines set out by the BC LCLB are adhered to and enforced while performing their duties.
Any other requested duties that are relevant and related to the Banquet Serve rs job functions.
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Knowledge of banquet server responsibilities an asset
Prior hospitality experience preferred
Serving it Right Certification
Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
Must be able to bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks, requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, able to work late night shifts
Work Environment Considerations
Regular theatre, casino, restaurant or bar environment, standing and walking for long periods of time and non-traditional work hours
