We are currently looking for a Paralegal to join our Corporate department, supporting both Partner and Associate practices, and leading transactional work.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of corporate documents relating to Alberta, BC, Federal and extra-provincial corporations, limited partnerships and societies/not-for-profits, including incorporations/registrations, corporate reorganizations, share/asset transactions, article amendments, director and officer changes, name changes, amalgamations, continuations, dissolutions and revivals;
- Minute book reviews, including reporting and ratifying resolutions;
- Respond to client inquiries and Partner needs expertly and efficiently,
- Managing files independently, and leveraging Legal Assistants as needed;
- Attending to various filings and registrations;
- Conducting due diligence searches;
- Performing administrative and related duties and assisting others in the department; and
- Other duties, as required.
Knowledge, Qualities & Experience Required
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a Corporate Paralegal role or similar role;
- Must have CORES II accreditation, CORES III preferred;
- High degree of proficiency with ALF, Aderant and MS Office applications;
- Experience with corporate registry filings;
- Strong understanding of the Business Corporations Act (Alberta);
- Familiarity with the Alberta Societies Act an asset;
- Strong technical aptitude;
- High degree of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail;
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills required to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities;
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple files.
