Summit Air is looking for a Maintenance Controller to join our growing team! The Maintenance Controller, reporting to the Maintenance Operations Manager oversees scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure aircraft remain airworthy and operational. Acting as the key link between Maintenance, Operations, and Flight Following, this role coordinates aircraft availability, provides status updates, and supports maintenance teams and crew chiefs in daily activities. Essential Responsibilities: Oversee and manage all scheduled maintenance activities and coordinate recovery efforts for unscheduled or abnormal maintenance events. Ensure the web-based maintenance communication tool is accurate, current, and regularly updated for all aircraft. Monitor aircraft operating under an MEL, providing recommendations to return them to full service as quickly as possible. Supervise, mentor, and support crew chiefs and planners in prioritizing maintenance tasks, distinguishing between urgent needs and those that can be deferred based on operational demands. Manage maintenance subcontractors and oversee related logistics, including booking travel and accommodations. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of related experience in aviation maintenance. Previous experience as an AME or Crew Chief (or equivalent role) is required. Prior maintenance control experience is an asset. Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance operations, with experience at the operational or management level preferred. Proficiency with maintenance tracking software. Strong computer skills with the ability to use a variety of systems and tools effectively. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
