Position Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manager, HR is accountable for labour relations, employee relations and day-to-day operations of human resources. The Manager, HR is a part of the Plant Management team working closely with the Plant Manager and other functional leaders to deliver on plant priorities as well as develop and implement innovative HR strategies and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Designs and executes HR solutions that align with plant priorities
Interprets policies and CBA and provides guidance to plant management
Manages labour relations, including counselling line management and employees to achieve resolutions
Prepares and attends the grievance process
Recommends resolutions to grievances and/or the escalation to arbitration; assists in the preparation of arbitration
Leads investigations of issues; makes recommendation in the resolution of issues; documentation of all investigations and appropriate follow up of investigation outcomes
Identifies, develops and delivers training/communications to supervisors, lead hands and hourly employees; along with mandatory annual training
Manages Labour/Management Meetings from scheduling; documentation to follow up of resolution
Manages Attendance Management Program
Assists and prepares for CBA negotiations
Manages recruitment and job postings for hourly vacancies, and salaried plant positions
Manages non-occupational Disability Program and Return to Work Program
Analyzes labour data and makes appropriate recommendations
Participates in Plant Management meetings offering insight and solutions for human resource issues that have impact to the plant/business
Designs and develops individual development plans supporting succession planning for the plant
Manages the development and establishment of Sofina HR processes for the plant – for example: total rewards and talent assessment; applicable policies and practices
Manages the development and implementation of specific HR strategies and initiatives for the plant that support plant goals
Leads on-boarding programs
Models and coaches facility leaders on Blueprint values
Provides strategic input into the development and implementation of comprehensive Health and Safety program/initiatives, and supports H&S initiatives
Implements or oversees implementation of corporate initiatives and participates in corporate meetings to identify opportunities
Requirements:
A minimum of 3-5 years experience in an HR Operations Role
A University or college degree in such disciplines as Business, Labour Relations, Human Resources or equivalent years of experience
Thorough knowledge of Labour Relations, Human Rights and Employment Standards and their application
Recruitment experience for hourly and salaried positions
Strong change management experience for processes and people
Analytical skills balanced with ability to make and execute recommendations and ability to gain credibility and deal effectively with employees, all levels of management and Union
Positive attitude and unwavering commitment to deliver results
Excellent at building relationships across all levels of the organization
Passion for creating a healthy work environment and help drive a strong and winning culture
Excellent MS Office skills
Ability to present viewpoints and ideas effectively in both written and oral forms
