In this role, you will:
Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Implementing hygiene program elements and creating exposure control plans
Experience working effectively with hourly and management employees as well as Occupational Health and Safety Committees
Assist with optimizing the industrial hygiene program which will include conducting ergonomic evaluations, tracking equipment inventory, and conducting surveys
Collect a variety of occupational hygiene samples including noise, particulate, and other airborne contaminants
Support the hearing conservation program, chemical management plan and respiratory protection program
Manage contractor pre-clearance and access systems
Facilitate safety training for hourly and management employees
Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
Requirements:
Working towards an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health or Industrial Hygiene
A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions is preferred
Motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously
Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles, at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
Excellent computer skills with the ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines
Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is necessary, and a working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access
Impeccable record keeping and excellent organizational skills
Experience working in mining or heavy industry considered an asset

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
