Under the supervision of Vincent Rigby (Slater Professor of Practice) and Pearl Eliadis (Associate Professor, Professional) successful candidates will assist in the further development of the Slater partnership program with Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC, including support for the 2026 Slater Family Conference. The RA duties will focus on three key areas: Assist in the preparation of the annual Slater conference tentatively entitled “Contemporary Challenges to Constitutional Governance in the United States and Canada: State of Two Nations” to be held at the end of May-early June 2026 . Assist in the establishment of a Canada-US “second century commission” looking at the future of the bilateral relationship . Assist with various other initiatives, including research/writing assignments and a possible trip to Washington. Duties/Responsibilities Assist in the planning, organization and execution of the Slater Conference, including directly supporting the Steering Committee, identifying and liaising with conference participants, preparing bios, conducting logistics, carrying out research, drafting supporting conference documents including agendas, press releases etc Research potential members, produce work plans and elaborate budgets to assist in the development of the standup of the second century commission and associated secretariat Perform other research/writing and administrative tasks as needed Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently and in a team, and meet deadlines Demonstrated academic or professional interest and experience in international relations, constitutional and/or international law Demonstrated interest and experience in the Canada-US partnership Strong engagement skills and experience in organizing academic and professional programs, conferences, panels, and working documents Duration of Contract: October-1-2025 to June-15-2026 Average Hours of Work: 5 hours per week Total Hours for Contract: 180 hours over 9 months Salary: $25/per hour You must be a current MPP student at the Max Bell School of Public Policy.
