Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager and working collaboratively with the Site
managers, this position provides leadership in the development and delivery of
clinical education and instruction based on adult education principles and
philosophy, and by incorporating educational approaches as part of the education
delivery. Applies nursing theory, advanced knowledge and leadership concepts,
educational theories, and adult learning principles in providing clinical
guidance and resource support to staff.
This position is responsible for promoting best practice through staff
development and education thus ensuring optimal client outcomes. Assists the
managers in maintaining standards of care and in providing and participating in
quality improvement initiatives. Provides guidance and support to staff and
students in the application of the nursing process in the provision of client
care and promoting culture of evidence-based practice and evidence-informed
decision making. The key responsibility of the educator is to meet the
educational needs of the clinical staff in the organization. Responsible for
other duties as required.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

Master’s Degree in an applicable health related discipline an asset.

Registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

Certificate in Adult Education with adult education experience an asset.

Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for travel between sites.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years of fulltime clinical experience in the last 5 years in
specialized Complex Mental Health. focusing in providing holistic,
person-centered care to adults with complex and chronic mental health conditions
and cognitive disorders. This role requires a solid understanding of the Mental
Health Act, emphasizes trauma-informed care grounded in Harm Reduction
principles.

Demonstrated ability to engage and build collaborative relationships with
staff, physicians, patients and families, leaders, learners and external
partners and facilitate group processes.

Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to recognize complex problems and seek solutions.

Teaching skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult
learning principles.

Computer literacy skills essential e.g. MS Office Suite, Connect Care.
Preferred:

Project management and change management knowledge and experience an asset.

Demonstrated ability in planning, implementing and leading change from an
evidence-based perspective.

Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

PROSCI Change Management certificate or Change management modules.

Alberta Health Services Improvement Way (AIW) Green Belt certification.

Specialty Canadian Nursing certification such as: Canadian Gerontological
Nursing certificate (GPNC(C)), Canadian Medical-Surgical nursing certificate
(CMSN(C)), Canadian Psychiatric and Mental Health (CPMHN(C)), Wound, Ostomy and
Continence (WOCC(C)).
