Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Supervisor oversees the day-to-day activities of the accounting team while also contributing to core accounting functions. Key responsibilities include reviewing month-end entries, conducting variance analysis, preparing reconciliations and financial statements, and supporting audits, tax filings, and ad hoc projects. This role balances hands-on accounting work with team leadership, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting while fostering team development and driving process improvements. Essential Responsibilities: Month-End Close & Reporting Lead and oversee the month-end close process for all Summit entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany commission calculations, and management reporting. Provide analysis and insights to support executive decision-making while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Financial Compliance & Year-End Reporting Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures in compliance with ASPE and corporate policies. Maintain audit-ready working papers and ensure timely, accurate responses to audit requests. Team Leadership & Development Manage and mentor a team of accountants by providing guidance, feedback, and ongoing development opportunities. Oversee performance management and foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment. Audit Support & Special Reviews Lead audit-related activities such as inventory counts, lease reviews, transfer pricing compliance, and intercompany transaction analysis. Ensure accurate documentation, adherence to accounting standards, and effective coordination with external auditors. Process Improvement & Innovation Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing more efficient, standardized approaches to accounting and reporting. Apply innovative solutions and sound judgment to address complex accounting challenges. Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, including financial statement preparation. At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Strong knowledge of ASPE GAAP with proven ability to interpret and apply accounting standards. Experience analyzing financial data, investigating variances, and partnering with Operations teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills required); experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP and Hyperion is an asset. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and mentor staff. Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred.
