POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the President & COO of the Alterra Experiences Division, the SVP, Finance (“SVP”) will be the chief steward in strengthening and developing our overall financial strategy and business value creation. This executive finance leader will bring advanced management and leadership knowledge providing strategic vision and tactical/strategic direction, including overseeing the strategic development, direction and implementation of all financial activities for Alterra Experiences Division. This executive will galvanize the Company’s various resources to develop and build financial strategies that will help to drive growth and improve current business operations’ effectiveness. This executive must be passionate about the business and be a “people-drive” leader. The successful candidate must be able to introduce financial processes, procedures and systems to ensure a consistent approach to CMH Heli Skiing and Mike Wiegele Heli Skiing. The SVP must be a proactive leader who will drive strategic considerations of our operating strategies that contribute to highly valued guest experiences and will provide “thought leadership” for the senior management team in the areas of financial operational excellence and sustaining competitive advantages. The SVP will be responsible for oversight of financial performance management and management reporting, leadership of operating P&L and capital forecasting processes, driving actionable insights from post-mortem review of operational performance and capital investments, and ensuring collaboration and partnership with Alterra Shared Services across key areas of strategic planning, annual budgeting, long range plans, and procurement. The SVP will play the critical role within the organization in fostering a powerful financial foundation and reputation for the Company, to drive revenue and profit growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Leadership Drives short- and long-term Financial Strategies, Budget Plans and Key Performance Goals, and works to maximize consensus and commitment from key internal stakeholders and to minimize challenges, barriers, and risk. Formulates and leads the execution of the long-term financial strategy for our organization. Acts with high integrity as a change agent for key initiatives; models organizational values, exhibits strong leadership behaviors and sets the cultural tone. Creates strategies that grow revenues and builds the Company’s reputation. Champions the influence and implementation of effective initiatives, supporting organizational change and removing barriers along with ensuring resources for initiatives. Long Range Planning Set vision and strategy for long-range planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance management. Working with the CMH and MWHS Finance heads, lead operating P&L and capital planning oversight, ensuring alignment with long-term financial strategy. Develop and implement financial strategies to align with corporate objectives and drive long-term business profitability. Annual Planning & Budgeting Lead annual planning process with department heads, ensuring alignment with corporate financial strategies. Oversee Alterra Experiences operating P&L and growth & maintenance capital annual budgeting, ensuring projects align with financial and operational priorities. Business Performance & Management Reporting Provide financial insights to the President and Senior Leadership Team to drive operational decision-making. Monitor financial performance through key financial metrics and reporting dashboards across both CMH and MWHS. Lead post-mortem Analysis and review to create actionable insights of operational performance and capital investments. Forecasting Working with the CMH and MWHS Finance heads, oversee monthly operating P&L and growth and maintenance capital forecasting processes with Alterra Experiences department heads. Identify financial risks and opportunities within the CMH and MWHS operations and provide data-driven recommendations to drive results. Financial Partnership, Tools & Training, and Other Act as the primary financial representative for corporate finance teams, auditors, and regulatory authorities. Oversee financial governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across all resort financial operations for both CMH and MWHS Champion the adoption of planning tools, systems and training. Collaborate with Alterra Shared Services on business opportunities as required REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Deep knowledge of finance – financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, budgeting, financial reporting. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills. Solid understanding of accounting principles and concepts. Self-motivated and results driven. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive manner. Dynamic, pro-active, resourceful and practical. Experience managing and developing others. Solid understanding of financial systems; experience leading the integration of financial systems through a merger or acquisition would be a benefit Possesses a record of professional accomplishments with leading, major entities. This candidate must be able to rely on excellent financial instincts and substantial experience in a dynamic environment to effectively position Alterra Experiences for operational growth and success. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Required: Undergraduate degree; ideally a degree in finance, business administration, or equivalent. Optional: Masters or MBA with a focus on finance Minimum seven years of relevant work experience 12-15+ years of experience, including managing a team Experience in finance, investment banking, consulting, or investor relations is strongly preferred Career progression through increasingly responsible positions in Finance and Accounting, ultimately presiding over a complete financial function. Celebrating more than 55 years of heli-adventures, CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures is the world’s first and largest heli-skiing and heli-accessed hiking operator. From our head office in Banff, Alberta, CMH operates 11 destinations located in the Bugaboo, Purcell, Selkirk, Monashee, and Cariboo ranges of British Columbia, Canada.
