ABOUT THE TEAM
DoorDash's mission is to grow and empower local economies. By building
intelligent, last-mile delivery technology for local cities, DoorDash connects
people with the local businesses they care about – helping grow business and the
communities that support those businesses.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a business-savvy operator with a strong bias to action to
drive DoorDash’s growth across Calgary and Western Canada. As the local market
owner, you’ll blend strategic thinking with in-market insight to identify
opportunities, build strong partnerships, and improve customer and merchant
experiences.
This role requires a proactive self-starter who thrives at the intersection of
data, relationships, and execution. Whether analyzing performance metrics or
engaging directly with merchant partners, you’ll uncover ways to improve market
performance. You’ll work closely with our commercial teams, advocating for local
selection strategies, and developing tailored approaches that resonate across
Calgary and markets across Alberta.
We’re seeking someone who’s data-driven, a hands-on operator,
relationship-oriented, and eager to make a tangible impact in one of DoorDash’s
fastest-growing regions.
YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE YOU WILL…
- Own and execute the Alberta growth strategy: Build and execute a market
roadmap focused on customer engagement, retention, and quality selection,
tailored to the unique dynamics of Calgary and surrounding areas.
- Drive business development initiatives: Identify and pursue high-impact
partnership opportunities that improve local selection and drive incremental
growth across key merchant segments.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration: Act as the connective tissue between the
market and DoorDash’s commercial teams and HQ, surfacing local insights and
co-developing merchant strategies that support long-term success.
- Be a champion for local selection: Advocate for market-specific assortment
needs, ensuring the right mix of merchants are onboarded, supported, and
elevated.
- Balance analytics with field insight: Validate assumptions with real-world
examples by combining rigorous data analysis with first-hand learnings from
customer interviews, store visits, and merchant shadowing.
- Act like an Owner: Take full ownership of your market’s success, with
autonomy to test, iterate, and scale what works.
WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE…
- Are a builder and connector: You see opportunities where others see
roadblocks. You’re energized by building systems from the ground up and
forming lasting relationships along the way
- Have a business development mindset: You understand how to identify, scope,
and close high-impact opportunities, and you know how to align internal
stakeholders to get things done
- Thrive in ambiguity and autonomy: You’re comfortable setting your own
direction, testing and learning as you go, and staying laser-focused on
outcomes.
- Are operationally sharp and analytically driven: You turn insights into
action and know how to measure and report on impact in a fast-moving
environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in business development, consulting, strategy,
startups, or operations
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with commercial teams
- Proven ability to identify growth opportunities and lead strategic
initiatives from conception to execution
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence across various
stakeholders and levels of the organization
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and SQL; comfortable making decisions
grounded in data
- Deep familiarity with the Calgary market is a strong plus
