About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer Supervisor, the Senior Mining Technician, Survey is responsible for providing and maintaining guidance to field staff to ensure adherence to the plan.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills who is self-motivated, but collaborates well with a team. The successful candidate can work safely and effectively in a dynamic environment and prioritize work based on unforeseen changes, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The ability to maintain a positive and motivated demeanor in inclement weather and remote locations is vital to success in this role as a portion of your work will be in the field.

In this role you will:
Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Conduct physical site surveys and layouts using a variety of equipment and tools
Maintain notes and perform electronic data collection, processing, and volume calculations
Interface between field staff, mining engineers, planners, and geologists
Safely work in an active mining environment in close proximity to large equipment during excavation and material placement
Conduct photogrammetric surveys, including the processing and handling of the data
Assist Drill and Blast Engineers with daily tasks
Ensure instrumentation record keeping, including inventory management, repair scheduling, and system updates of equipment
Conduct drone surveys and video surveillance using a variety of UAV’s
Post flights data processing and video editing
Requirements:
Technical diploma or degree in Surveying, Geomatics, GIS, or Mine Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience using mine design software such as Hexagon MinePlan 3D, Maptek PointStudio, Esri ArcGIS, or AutoCAD would be an asset
Advanced drone pilot license would be an asset
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
