Powerline Technician Co-op Student

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, we are seeking current students in a Powerline Technician college program who are looking for a co-op placement starting Winter of 2026 (January – April) to gain valuable, hands-on work experience in the trade.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in the maintenance of relevant electrical systems and services.
Assist with ESA permits and necessary locate requirements.
Assist with inventory management.
Assist with service and troubleshoot electrical-related issues.
Assist with ensuring all work meets ESA and internal requirements.
Assist with completing work/service orders within the allotted time frames.
Assist with ensuring all installation/service work is done according to quality standards.
Report and communicate according to company procedures.
Assist with work overflow as needed.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
Adhere to safety policy and proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team setting.
Assist with the completion of paperwork as required – Job Planning, tailboards, timesheets, traffic planning.
Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised, in a team setting.
Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs., climb heights, and be in crawl spaces.
Shadow Powerline Maintainers & Lead Hand.
Able to work after standard hours and in adverse weather conditions.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in a Powerline Technician college diploma program.
Secondary School Graduation Diploma.
Exposure to electrical theory.
Must be in good health and physically fit for year-round outdoor line work, in all elements, in confined spaces and at various heights.
Proficiency in occupational health and safety legislation, safe work practices, work protection codes, and other safety policies and procedures, including First Aid/CPR and WHMIS.
Commitment to safety, teamwork, respect in the workplace and continued improvement of processes and procedures.
Basic computer knowledge and data input skills.
A valid G license with a clean abstract. A valid DZ or AZ license is considered an asset.
