The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Facilities Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our hybrid greenhouse facility in Tiverton, Ontario. This role ensures that all systems (mechanical, electrical, irrigation, lighting, and automation) operate reliably and efficiently while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, insurance and quality requirements. Reporting into the General Manager, the Facilities Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team of tradespeople and contractors, manage vendor relationships, and drive initiatives that optimize operations and reduce costs. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, insurance requirements, safety standards, and Health Canada and GMP requirements as they pertain to physical plant operations at the facility. Ensure execution of preventive maintenance programs, maintenance of record documentation, and execution of capital and operating projects with respect to facility equipment and automation systems. Supervise & manage daily activities of trades staff (Electrical, Mechanical and Maintenance technicians). Oversee installation, commissioning, relocation, and upgrades of equipment and systems. Coordinate administrative services such as signage, parking, snow removal, and safety inspections. Supervise & manage Facilities Maintenance administrative staff and provide monthly reports on budgets, work order completion rates, risks, and initiative execution. Work to build and maintain relationships with key contractors and vendors, act as an escalation resource/accountable individual for contractor and vendor conflict resolution. Financial & Project Management Prepare annual budgets, monitor expenses, and deliver monthly variance reports. Propose and implement cost-saving initiatives to reduce operational expenditure. Lead the site team in planning and executing major projects and repairs, funded through CAPEX or OPEX. Responsibilities include execution planning, design, construction, commissioning, validation, documentation, and warranty/preventive maintenance administration. Duties also encompass preparing RFPs, reviewing engineered designs, authoring Scopes of Work and Terms of Reference for contractors, contributing to economic and technical analyses, conducting risk assessments, and supporting long-term facility planning. Ensure vendors and contractors meet both contractual and informal commitments, delivering effective and cost-efficient support in compliance with contractual requirements and applicable codes and standards. Leadership & Communication Lead, mentor, and develop facilities staff to ensure a high-performance team. Act as liaison between Facilities Maintenance team staff and other internal and external departments. Report departmental KPIs to the General Manager and provide regular updates on projects. Promote a culture of safety and enforce strict adherence to H&S protocols and SOPs. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3+ years of facilities management experience in a complex operation (greenhouse/agriculture, manufacturing, property management, or similar). Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, a background and/or certification in the technical trades, or appropriate work experience for a Facilities Maintenance manager required. Strong knowledge of industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Controls, Lighting, and / or Process systems and machines required. Experience with contractor management, project scheduling, and construction project execution required. Familiarity with GMP/cGMP, HACCP, Lean, and Continuous Improvement principles an asset. Proficiency with CMMS (FiiX), BAS (PRIVA), ERP (Sage), and QMS systems an asset. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee and overcome operational challenges. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications. Proven ability to manage budgets, prioritize workloads, and maintain attention to detail. Experience managing a team as a direct supervisor / leadership position experience required.
