Field Operations - Multi-Scope Field Manager
Reports directly to the Project Manager. The Multi-Scope Field Manager shall direct, oversee and be responsible for all on-site elements and functions that relate directly and indirectly to the installation of Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Railing, Uni-Wall, and Metal Cladding products on projects assigned to him or her. Working as part of an established organization structure and within standard protocols and procedures by which all work undertaken is conducted. Duties and responsibilities of the Multi-Scope Field Manager include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
Project Management Professional Certification is an asset.
Years of Experience:
Minimum 2-3+ years of field management or project coordination experience working with Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Railing, Uni-wall, and Metal Cladding systems.
Working Conditions:
Hours: Based on Site Hours;
Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises;
Work environment requires wearing PPE for all site work and in certain other locations;
Requires driving a company vehicle to visit sites, clients or Site Supers;
Full Health and Safety training required (Working at Heights, WHMIS);
Follow Health and Safety standards on site; and
Flexible to work overtime as required.
Characteristics:
Detail oriented with the ability to read Shop Drawings;
Knowledgeable in the glazing industry and knows about window wall, curtain wall, uni-wall, railing and metal cladding products and systems
Full understanding of measuring on site with tools;
Ability work on many projects that are large and complex;
Discretion, judgment, and tact to handle confidential information;
Write letters, memos and emails;
Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person; and
Demonstrate State’s core values and work in a team environment
Job Specific Duties:
Conduct site walkthroughs regularly;
Schedule the Start-Up meeting with the designated installer once assigned;
Complete Project Startup and Logistics plan checklist for 120 day and prior to mobilization items;
Identify Installation Batch and Sequence Plan (not schedule);
Identify Plan for installation of Hoist locations;
Identify Plan for MPH locations;
Caulking installation schedule;
Maintain logistics plans and coordinate OTIF deliveries (On Time & In Full);
Maintain client and stakeholder relationships;
Execution of VMU installation;
Adhere to Master Schedule Site Measurement dates
Conduct Site Measurements
Master schedule Inputs (information for contribution)
Execution of E-request
Ensure Installer deficiencies closed out within 14 days of initiation and documented in Construction management software
Verify Site readiness for initial measuring / installation
Verify Gridlines and Benchmarks are in place and available
Verify and sign off on concrete and floor readiness in advance of initiation of installer work
Identify non-standard site conditions and address with the Project Manager and Site Operations Manager.
Execute the Non-Standard Detail on Site
Responsible for progress photos of project in construction management software to monitor progress and manage risk
Review and approve equipment rental invoices;
Arrange for equipment required to complete work - swing stage and the like; ensure equipment rental charges end when it is no longer needed; Monitor equipment usage and ensure returned in a timely manner;
Ensure work is completed within the provided budget for machinery and equipment rentals
Review all procedures with the Safety Coordinator, Installer(s) and other site personnel prior to the start of window deliveries and installation;
Review and approve installer contract progress, extra work progress, and work logs for Time and Material work with explanation of variances
Review and approve installer's invoices and ensure paperwork is correct before submitting with full explanation of any extra costs
Fill out SOV for monthly progress draw (Installer Billing)
Schedule safety inspection, Competent Supervisor form and JHA prior to first delivery;
Schedule site mobilization for the installation crew
Audit material deliveries to ensure accuracy; report damages and/or missing materials within 24-48 hours
Job specific SWPs;
Take the Installer for walkthrough and orientation on site;
Plan and schedule deliveries to site with plant manager, shipping manager, and execution team
Issue floor deficiency report to Project Team.
Kick-off meeting with Installers at office 14 weeks prior to production with Lead Installer and Engineering.
Participate in 1st floor review of installation CFT review (first release)
Participate in 2nd Floor CFT Sign off (identify how will we incorporate other scopes)
Compile and submit project updates/ weekly field tracker for review
Resolve outstanding site issues
Order missing infills
Represent State, as requested, in business with customers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers; and
Any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
Ensure unloading and access are coordinated with site, Installer, and Shipping;
Follow up on all safety documentation of the Installation crew(s);
