About the Role
Steelhaus is seeking a Intermediate Accountant to provide support to the Controller to ensure timely and accurate periodic (monthly, quarterly, and annual) financial statements.
Position Details
Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Calgary, AB (Downtown)
Key Responsibilities
Scope: Steelhaus Technologies and any other company within the Group as assigned.
Cash reporting
Post all bank transactions.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliation. Ensure all reconciling items are cleared.
Prepare bi-weekly cashflow reporting – input actual cashflows and update forecasts in the Group cashflow template.
Fixed Assets
Support in the posting of all fixed asset transactions in line with company policy.
Maintain FA continuity schedule.
Update months schedule showing funded and unfunded capex, and other reconciliation schedules.
Accounts Payable (smaller companies)
Post all purchase transactions.
Prepare payment run on time and send out payment advice.
Manage vendor requests, reconciliation, expense accruals.
Accounts Receivable (smaller companies)
Post all revenue transactions
Follow up with customers for collections on time.
Manage customer requests, reconciliation, revenue accruals.
Month-end Responsibilities
Post all recurring journals.
Maintain month-end work papers.
Support in preparation of monthly reporting pack for all entities.
Preparation of the balance sheet reconciliation for review.
Preparation of GST reconciliation every month for review.
Year-end Responsibilities
Provide support to the team before, during and after the year end audit.
Assist in preparing year end working papers for the audit.
Support with providing document as requested by the auditors.
Other Reports
Assist in the preparation of SRED reporting for review.
Manage full accounting cycle for smaller companies within the Group.
Other tasks as assigned from Time to Time.
Qualification and Experience
A business degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA in view.
4+ years’ related accounting experience, manufacturing experience considered an asset.
Microsoft NAV/Business Central knowledge considered an asset.
Excel and other Microsoft Office skills.
Analytical, ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines and adapt to shifting priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Great interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
Known for thinking out of the box and making recommendations for process improvements.
