Salary: Level 5 Step 1 ($37.42 hourly)

Under the direction of the Senior Information Advisor, the position performs a variety of support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. The incumbent will assist in the operation of computer hardware and software installation and will perform a broad range of customer assistance, equipment maintenance and repair. These tasks will include preparing and deploying user workstations, providing support to staff on computer and printer related issues, recording work and resolving issues in the TH helpdesk system, assisting in purchasing and maintaining TH Government IT inventory, contribute to staff knowledge base website, and preparing network cabling. The position will exercise judgement and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly and determines when to refer problems to supervisor.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by a diploma or course work focusing on computer systems and technical support to users on computing issues. An equivalent combination of experience, education and skills may be considered.
Experience providing IT Customer support.
Knowledge of personal computers and end user software applications.
Understanding of data processing and networking principles.
Mechanical aptitude to perform routine workstation, server and network hardware/software preventative and maintenance activities.
Knowledge of networking technology, including software, hardware, operating systems, and industry standards.
Knowledge of TCP/IP based networks.
Ability to be physical active and lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
Assets:
IT certification an asset.
Ability to manage stress and work flexible hours on short notice when required.
Strong organizational and planning skills, including managing workload of complex tasks with tight deadlines.
Conditions of Employment:
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver’s abstract.
Standard First Aid Certification
TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
