Department: The Programs Department oversees the strategic allocation and utilization of resources for humanitarian and development projects in over 30 countries, ensuring compliance as a registered charity. This involves aspects of administration, proposal development, project management, and remote and in-person monitoring and evaluation, to name a few. Program staff excel in proactive problem-solving and stakeholder management, capable of navigating diverse needs and ensuring effective communication. Job Purpose: The Program Coordinator will support the development and delivery of IR Canada’s new economic empowerment program in Canada by providing administrative, research and coordination support. This role includes extensive liaising with community members, prospective partner organizations, and other stakeholders, supporting participant engagement, assisting with documentation, and contributing to program development. In addition, this role will be engaged in our Gazan evacuee programming, which intersects with the broader economic empowerment program. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct research on best practices and trends in economic empowerment programs, especially for newcomers and marginalized communities. Conduct primary research through visiting and meeting with various communities. Assist in the development and refinement of the new program’s strategy and action plans. Develop and maintain a referral database for external services and resources. Support in the implementation of activities, as needed, including the participant intake process. Monitor progress and share regular updates, as well as more in-depth reports as required. Liaise with external stakeholders, including community organizations and government agencies, as needed. Attend in-person meetings with community partners, service providers, and stakeholders to build and maintain relationships. Collaborate with other teams at IR by identifying suitable program participants for case studies and storytelling and contribute to fundraising ideas based on insights and outcomes from program activities. Facilitate communication with the Fundraising Operations unit to ensure alignment and clarity, particularly as it relates to Domestic Programs. Assist in the preparation of grant applications to government agencies/ private foundations in collaboration with the Partnerships Advisor. Qualifications & Competencies Fluency in English. At least 2 years of experience in a program support role in the Canadian nonprofit space. Experience working with refugee, newcomer, or marginalized communities. Experience in resettlement or economic empowerment programs is considered an asset. Strong written and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization. Must be eligible to work in Canada and be available to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, when required. Current local valid driving license and regular access to a vehicle. Have a flexible approach to work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity. Willingness to travel nationally, and at short notice.
