About the Principal Software Developer Role
As a Principal Crypto Software Developer, you'll be a leading force in building
Wealthsimple's non-custodial crypto infrastructure from the ground up. You'll
operate at the intersection of traditional fintech and decentralized protocols,
setting the technical direction and bridging the gap between complex blockchain
technology and intuitive user experiences. This role offers the unique
opportunity to define how over a million crypto clients interact with
decentralized finance while championing Wealthsimple's high standards for
security, reliability, and user experience.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to
- Lead the design and architecture of new on-chain non-custodial products that
give users full control over their crypto assets
- Drive the design and implementation of integrations with leading DEXs, DeFi
protocols, and wallet providers
- Strategize and enhance our existing custodial crypto offerings by expanding
asset selection and improving product functionality
- Pioneer the adoption of cutting-edge blockchain technology and significantly
contribute to the evolution of decentralized finance
- Collaborate with and mentor cross-functional teams to deliver seamless crypto
experiences to over a million users
- Establish and champion technical standards and best practices for crypto
development at Wealthsimple
What you’ll bring
- Extensive proven experience working in the crypto/blockchain industry with a
strong track record of hands-on development and technical leadership
- Deep familiarity with integrating DEXs, wallet providers, and smart contract
protocols, including advanced use cases
- Expert understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including transaction
mechanics, gas optimization, and security considerations
- Extensive experience with Ethereum and other major blockchain networks,
including Layer 2 solutions, and the ability to evaluate new protocols
- Expert knowledge of smart contract development and interaction (EVM/SVM),
with experience in auditing and optimizing contracts
- In-depth knowledge of DeFi protocols, AMMs, and decentralized exchange
mechanisms, including emerging trends
- Comprehensive understanding of crypto security best practices, including
advanced key management and multi-signature implementations
- Extensive experience with Web3 libraries and tools (ethers.js
[http://ethers.js], web3.js [http://web3.js], etc.), and the ability to
contribute to open-source tools
- Strong background in backend development with languages like Ruby on Rails,
Java, Kotlin, or Python, with experience in designing scalable systems
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate and
strategically influence the rapidly evolving crypto landscape
- Passion for decentralized finance and its potential to democratize financial
services, with a vision for its future
