JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager, Full-Service Dining & Banquets is responsible for leading all aspects of our Full-Service Dining outlets & Banquets. This includes Altitudes Bistro, a high-volume restaurant; The Observatory, a fine-dining restaurant, and Banquet Events. This person has a passion for food, beverages and leading teams that deliver memorable guest experiences. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for monitoring the daily operations of the FSD & Banquet department, managing the staff and the execution of service and events from set up to break down, ensuring that all client and guests needs and requests are met.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Report directly to the Manager of Full-Service Dining & Banquets
Assist in managing the daily operations of Altitudes Bistro, The Observatory Restaurant and Banquet Events
Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures of operations
Provide excellent customer service and maximize customer satisfaction
Support and communicate with all other F&B outlets and departments within Grouse Mountain Resorts
Assist in maintaining cash floats, cash outs and deposits (overages/shortages)
Maintain relationships with external company partners
Assist in hiring, training, scheduling and supervising staff members
Ensure all equipment is in working order
Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all service areas
Assist in controlling labour costs, liquor costs, and associated expenses
Foster a healthy and positive work environment and promote team building
Work within disciplinary guidelines as needed
Assist in monitoring staff performance and administering probation and annual evaluations
Assist in processing payroll duties in a timely manner according to the pay period schedule
Perform any other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct supervision to the Food & Beverage Full-Service Dining & Banquet operation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Excellent leadership, communication, customer service and organizational skills through a strong work ethic, innovative thinking and a positive attitude
Must be able to communicate effectively with guests in English in a respectful and enthusiastic manner by email, over the telephone and in person
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate duties amongst a team, with a focus on safety
Excellent work ethic and attitude, with the ability to thrive in a high-volume, challenging environment
Minimum two years serving or bartending experience
WSET, CMS or equivalent wine training an asset
Fine-Dining experience an asset
Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management an asset
Experience scheduling staff to maintain labour targets
Strong skills with Restaurant Management Software, Microsoft Outlook, Point of Sale Systems preferred
Strong problem solving & decision-making skills
Food Safe certification
Valid Serving it Right
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
Available for five days per week and able to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Food & Beverage Assistant Manager, Full-Service Dining & Banquets will perform some of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$56,000 per year plus gratuities
