Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking a Full-time Security Supervisor!
Reporting to the Security Shift Manager/Regional Security Manager, the Security Supervisor will be supervising the Security Officers and assisting the Security Shift Manager in the daily organization and running of the security shift, adhering to GBH policies and procedures. The Security Supervisor will address any concerns arising during the shift, which will be brought to the attention of the Security Shift Manager.

Excellent internal and external customer service skills are required to be displayed at all times
Responsible for the direct supervision of Security Officers and provide support to the Security Manager in the overall operation and administration duties
Address any concerns during the shift and reporting it to Management
Ensure any violations or suspected violations of the Gaming Code, the Criminal Code of Canada, the Gaming Control Act 1992, the Terms and Conditions of Registration, Ontario Casino Corporation Act and regulations are logged and reported to the Security Manager accordingly
Ensure all irregular, unusual, suspicious or illegal activities are logged and reported immediately
Maintain effective rapport with the Ontario Provincial Police and any other local Law Enforcement Agencies
Ensure Security Personnel are fully briefed prior to each shift as required
Safeguard confidential information and exercise due care to prevent its improper disclosure or use
Respond to and ensure all alarms, duress situations and incidents are addressed promptly and according to established procedures
Investigate and oversee all activities or occurrences that could impact the Casino in a negative manner
Ensure all security equipment are operational and report any malfunctions immediately
Provide training, coaching and development opportunities to Security Officers as necessary
Answer emergency calls and provide immediate care to ill and/or injured patrons and employees
Ensure compliance with all company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times
Provide emergency medical care and manage medical complaints, altered mental status, seizures, environmental emergencies, behavioral emergencies and psychological crisis as required
Manage all aspect of employee issues including attendance, performance concerns, conflict resolutions, corrective actions and coaching as required
Work closely with EMS unit and provide emergency medical report of patient at the emergency scene as required
Perform all other duties as required by the Security Shift Manager
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:
Completion of Post-Secondary Diploma is Police Foundations/LASA preferred or equivalent education/experience
Minimum two years of experience as a Security Officer at GBH or equivalent
Previous supervisory experience would be an asset
Must be able to successfully complete a Provincially Regulated Emergency Response Training administered through St. John’s Ambulance or Red Cross
Extensive experience with all facets of a physical security program
Previous experience and/or certification in Health and Safety
Must have a valid G Class Ontario Driver’s license
Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada (sections pertaining to the use of force an the powers of arrest)
Excellent interpersonal skills and tact in dealing with personnel and with the public
Must possess basic computer skills; including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access and Excel
Ability to be fair, consistent and impartial in their approach to supervising the security staff
Ability to coach and obtain co-operations from others to achieve common goals, with well-developed leadership skills
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to operate effectively under stress during emergency situations
Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of information
Ability to maintain discretion and diplomacy while performing job functions.
Ability to direct performance of departmental staff and follow-up with corrections where needed
Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through
Ability to exercise sound judgment
Must be able to exhibit professional business behavior at all times, have a high degree of initiative, proven dependability and accountability.
