PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Are you a recent Civil Engineering graduate looking to kick-start your career in a hands-on, fast-paced environment? CPKC is looking for an Engineer in Training to join our team and help shape the future of railway infrastructure. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is P.Eng eligible, passionate about transportation systems, and eager to grow through mentorship and real-world project experience.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage the execution of assigned projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget
Supervise and coordinate with engineering consultants
Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, memos, and external correspondence
Coordinate with internal departments, external stakeholders, and customers
Provide on-site construction management and ensure compliance with safety standards
Support Business Development with third-party customer projects
Perform on-site safety audits and efficiency assessments, while engaging with union personnel to ensure alignment with safety protocols and project goals
Field travel as needed to project sites to familiarize yourself with the territory
Participate in on-call rotation to support 24/7 operations
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Civil (Mechanical or Industrial backgrounds will be considered)
Must be P.Eng eligible
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience (co-op experience considered)
Valid driver's license

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
