WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Machinist is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, set up, program, and troubleshooting of machining equipment to ensure production requirements at Masco Canada are met. These duties are to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring quality of the product and production rates are maintained. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Lead and train CNC operators in set-up, troubleshooting and correcting faults Program and edit programs on CNC equipment with various controllers Troubleshoot tooling and equipment issues Maintain proper production documentation Follow proper setup instructions and procedures (layouts) Read and interpret production blueprints Use appropriate gauging to produce products to quality standards Report quality and/or tooling issues Perform repairs on equipment as required Ensure product is running at optimum cycle times according to standards Actively participate and implement continuous improvement Communicate effectively with service technicians as required HEALTH & SAFETY: Maintain a safe workplace Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor Comply with the company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act) Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible QUALITY: Follow all area work instructions and procedures to ensure quality standards are adhered to Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept and the supervisor AUTONOMOUS MAINTENANCE: Perform autonomous maintenance on equipment as required on a daily basis 5S: Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards (take 5 min at the end of your shift) Support the monthly 5S clean up as required QUALIFICATION: Proficiency with technical drawings, machine logic, and robotic integration. Ability to read blueprints Programming capability is a must and familiarity with Citizen, Hanwha, Miyano and Hardinge CNC lathes is required Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to read, and comprehend various machine manuals Knowledge of brazing, grinding, turning, drilling, milling, and heat treating Ability to use various measuring devices Ability to use JDE system (Work orders for products) Knowledge of all quality related requirements for inspection Ability to understand CNC machine programs and fault correction Swiss-style CNC program, set-up, and operate (Hanwha/Fanuc preferred) EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: O.S.S.D or equivalent Valid Certificate of Qualification (Machinist – 429A or equivalent).
