Performance Auto Group is hiring a skilled, creative and business-minded
litigator (3-7 years’ call) to own and run a high-impact caseload as part of our
in-house legal team.
In this role, you’ll manage a diverse caseload encompassing employment law,
product liability, personal injury, commercial disputes, debt collection and
advocacy before specialized tribunals. You’ll report directly to the General
Counsel and you’ll work closely with our Senior Law Clerk, Legal Operations
Specialist, Paralegal and Legal Administrative Assistant. You’ll collaborate
closely with senior management and business unit leaders across our dealerships
and collision centres. You’ll have broad discretion to set strategy, including
deciding when to escalate, settle or try cases.

Here’s what you’ll deliver
- Advocacy: Lead and conduct advocacy at all levels of courts in Ontario
(including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and
the Court of Appeal for Ontario), the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario,
Ontario Labour Relations Board and other tribunals, with a particular focus
on employment (wrongful dismissal, compensation, etc.) and human rights
disputes. Draft pleadings, factums, motion materials and affidavits;
represent Performance in motions, discoveries, mediations and hearings
- Commercial disputes and collections: Pursue/defend a broad spectrum of
commercial disputes, including debt collection and enforcement
- Product liability and consumer matters: Manage product-related claims, advise
on issues tied to sales, service, warranty and advertising
- Personal injury claims: Litigate and, where appropriate, instruct outside
counsel, coordinate with insurers, set reserves and report outcomes to
leadership
- Pre-litigation strategy and resolution: Advise business unit leaders about
risk and impact, and set negotiation strategy
- Advisory and training: Partners with HR on investigations,
discipline/terminations, accommodations; draft/review offers, releases,
policy updates
Qualifications and experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent and LSO license in good standing
- 3-7 years post-call litigation experience, preferably with a focus on
employment law.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills and experience
- Proven ability to manage complex cases from inception to resolution,
preferably including trial and tribunal experience
- Exceptional technological proficiency, with demonstrated experience using AI
tools to drive efficiency and innovation in legal practice
- Valid Ontario driver’s license an asset
