Purpose of the Role:
As a Senior Plant Process Engineer, you will develop, design, and optimize carbon capture gas processing plants for various industrial applications. This role will support early engagement & technical discussions with potential customers as part of the Business Development/Sales Team support. You will be responsible for bringing into Svante the understanding of what priorities are for the customer and their concerns both technical as well as business wise in collaboration with PDM/BD.
You will play a key role in scaling up a novel solid adsorption gas separation process from the pilot plant size to full commercial scale CO2 capture plant. You will use an in-depth understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and get heavily involved in the application of mass transport phenomena knowledge in chemical engineering.
You will take on all project-related basic process engineering deliverables of Svante’s licensing technology package for a specific project including block flow and process flow diagrams (PFD), Heat and material balances, P&ID, utility flow diagram and requirements, major equipment specifications and sizing, general plant layout and project CAPEX and OPEX.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
You bring 10+ years of experience in chemical process development, design, and operations.
You have a strong technical background in gas processing, steam generation systems, and CO₂ capture technologies.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and simulation software such as HYSYS and Aspen.
You have hands-on experience in gas plant construction, commissioning, and project engineering management.
You consistently observe health, safety, and security procedures, promoting a safety-first culture.
You demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong working relationships.
You apply critical thinking and sound judgment to solve complex problems and deliver results in challenging environments.
You work effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders, adapting well to change.
You are capable of developing and delivering presentations, and have strong written and oral communication skills.
What Success looks like in this role:
You will lead Svante carbon capture projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
You will prepare the Basis of Design document, detailing design standards, site conditions, utility availability, emissions limits, and system performance requirements.
You will ensure safety and regulatory compliance, conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies aligned with environmental standards.
You will design and troubleshoot gas processing systems, applying mass, momentum, and heat transfer principles to conceptual and detailed process and equipment design.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop PFDs, P&IDs, and control philosophy manuals, ensuring all designs meet specified regulations.
You will perform HAZOP and techno-economic analyses, evaluating safety, environmental impact, and project costs during the pre-construction phase.
You will mentor junior engineers and represent the organization by presenting technical papers and reference cases at industry conferences.
You will stay current with industry trends and innovations, identifying opportunities to enhance chemical engineering and carbon capture technologies.
