About the role:
Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the Senior Specialist, Cyber Security
is responsible for maintaining the cyber security health of Elk Valley
Resources. This role involves ensuring compliance with security standards,
monitoring and analyzing security toolsets, leading a small, cyber event driven
CSIRT team and responding to all security incidents, and implementing measures
to prevent future attacks. Additionally, the specialist will collaborate with a
larger Glencore Global CDC team to maintain robust security protocols and
safeguard EVR’s digital assets.

written, and verbal communication skills, who can build and maintain positive
relationships with partners across all levels of our organization. We require
someone who has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Collaborate with the Cyber Defense Center (CDC) to ensure EVR achieves full
compliance with the larger organizational security standards
- Monitor network traffic for security incidents and anomalies
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Take charge of incident response management, lead a dynamic, ad-hoc CSIRT
team to effectively investigate and resolve security breaches
- Develop, maintain, and implement security policies, protocols, and incident
response procedures and playbooks
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure a comprehensive and
coordinated security approach
- Maintain and update security systems and tools
- Provide training and support to staff on security awareness and run regular
phishing campaigns
- Prepare and present reports on security incidents and measures to senior
management
- Provide security architectural guidance and decisions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related
field
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a senior cyber security or
similar role
- Exceptional knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, principles, practices, and
technologies
- Proficiency in security detect & respond platforms (EDR > SentinelOne, MDE,
MDI and NDR > VectraAI, Nozomi, Palo Alto)
- Experience with automating incident response tasks and processes
- Experience with Incident Response, Incident Response Management, CIRP and
Playbook management
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR,
ISO 27001)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, GIAC, GCIH) are assets

$150,000 - $185,000 a year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s
relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
