Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are ever the same? Love the buzz of live events and the satisfaction of seeing everything run smoothly because you made it happen? We’re looking for an Event Support Superstar to help us bring our events to life! You’ll be part of a high-energy team that thrives on creativity, collaboration, and seeing months of planning come to life in a single incredible moment. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, keep all the moving pieces together, and help us wow our attendees, we want to hear from you!
Alberta Grains is the amalgamated commission formed by joining the Alberta Barley and the Alberta Wheat Commissions. Alberta Grains is committed to advancing and promoting the interests of 18,000 wheat and barley farmers in the province of Alberta. We continue to foster innovation, research and development, and sustainability in the agriculture sector. By bringing together the best of both commissions, our aim is to leverage the combined resources, knowledge and experience to deliver unparalleled value to farmers.
Job Type: This is a 6-month role, working 32 hours per week (4 day workweek), onsite at the Alberta Grains office. Hourly rate of $22 - $25 per hour depending on previous events experience.
What you’ll be up to:
Crafting event magic: signage, name tags, seating charts, menus, registration kits, and delegate packages.
Keeping the numbers in check: tracking budgets, vendor invoices, and payment deadlines with Finance.
Playing travel guru: booking hotels, compiling rooming lists, and coordinating staff, speaker, and VIP travel.
Supporting the behind-the-scenes: catering orders, AV needs, rental bookings, and setup/tear-down.
Owning the details: timelines, checklists, registrations, and communications that make it all flow.
Partnering with vendors, suppliers, and venues to confirm the little (and big!) details.
Wrapping things up: reconciling expenses, collecting feedback, and celebrating success.
And of course… pitching in on whatever else it takes to make an event shine!
What makes you shine:
Experience in events or hospitality (bonus points if you’ve lived through a seating chart shuffle!).
Organizational skills that make spreadsheets jealous.
A communicator who can keep cool under pressure and friendly under fire.
Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office/Excel (and maybe some event software, too).
Flexibility to travel and adapt to those event hours (you know the ones).
A team player who’s also not afraid to take the lead when needed.
Alberta Grains supports a diverse and inclusive work environment and welcomes applications from all qualified applicants. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada. We thank all applicants, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
