We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer for the Engineering Department—Langley. This position will be based out of the Langley facility and will report to the Director, Engineering. This role provides engineering support to Business Units in Work In Progress (WIP) and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Design mechanical installations for helicopter modifications, from concept through production.
Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks; review peer drawings and organize technical documents.
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), product documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
Ensure designs meet performance, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) studies to validate design projects and prepare reports.
Develop and maintain technical documentation including aircraft ICAs, FMS, Major Modification Reports and certification documents such as Structural Substantiation, Test Plans and Repair Reports.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with civil and military regulatory requirements, including preparation of statements of compliance.
Act as liaison engineer between production departments to facilitate systems integration and project execution.
Lead First Article Inspection activities for new repairs, providing technical guidance and preparing approval reports.
Conduct internal and external special process engineering audits.
Provide engineering support to shop floor teams as needed.
Applicable qualifications, attributes and competencies are:
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the aerospace industry.
Experience with certification of aircraft structures.
Strong technical writing skills focused on structural design validation, instructions and specifications.
Solid knowledge of aircraft metallic and composite structure stress analysis, materials, standard components and aerospace manufacturing processes.
Experience designing machined parts, welded assemblies, and sheet metal components; basic instrumentation knowledge is an asset.
Hands-on aircraft experience is an asset.
Knowledge or experience with Special Processes or Quality Management Systems (QMS) is an asset.
