The opportunity:
As the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will play a key role in shaping and executing the YMCA's marketing and communication strategies. Your creative vision, strategic thinking, and leadership skills will be vital in driving the organization's brand awareness, engaging with diverse audiences, and enhancing our impact in the community. You will collaborate with a talented team and work closely with senior executives to develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns, compelling communication materials, and effective digital strategies.
Please note: This is a maternity leave coverage position.
In this role, you will:
Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the YMCA's mission, core values, and members
Lead and execute the overall marketing and communications strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams
Partner with internal teams and vendors to achieve goals and drive best practices
Foster a work environment that embodies the YMCA's core values
Keep the team updated on the strategic vision and market dynamics
Develop marketing KPIs and tracking systems to measure performance
Oversee cross-functional planning and execution for operational teams
Support, develop, and mentor the marketing team
Initiate and implement new marketing programs across various channels
Develop and promote branding initiatives aligned with business goals
Create and manage a comprehensive annual marketing plan
Track and report the impact of marketing programs to the VP
Serve as a customer-focused advocate in all communications
Liaise with government officials, community partners, and media
Manage contracted services for design, website development, and more
Delegate tasks to the marketing department staff and allocate resources
Conduct market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities
Manage the marketing budget and ensure compliance with brand standards
Set targets, incentives, and performance objectives for the team
Implement recruitment, retention, and performance management strategies
Stay informed of marketing developments and share knowledge with the team
Attend professional development workshops and conduct regular staff meetings
You bring:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related fields; MBA would be an asset
A proven track record with at least 8-10 years of progressive marketing experience, including 5 years in a senior role
Strong oral and written communication skills
Extensive experience leading a Marketing department with a success record
Exceptional digital and analytical skills with marketing management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite and marketing tools
Skilled in building relationships and leading high-performance teams
Excellent leadership skills with a passion for employee engagement and development
Achievements in people, fiscal, and marketing management
Strong ability to cultivate relationships with stakeholders
Data-driven decision-making with strong copywriting and editing skills
Proficient in web metrics and digital analytics for data analysis
Independent worker with a track record of meeting deadlines
Flexible availability and willingness to work remotely or in-person
Problem-solving skills for complex situations
Project management abilities
Reliable vehicle for travel to various work sites when necessary
