Job Description
AECOM Mississauga is seeking a Governance Lead to oversee the design, implementation, and operation of governance processes for the ECWE project. This role provides senior leadership in refining decision-making structures, monitoring their effectiveness, and managing escalations. The Governance Lead will guide cross-functional teams, align governance with our client’s frameworks, and maintain transparency, accountability, and responsiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Governance Design & Oversight: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance frameworks, including Terms of Reference, RACI, and decision-making pathways and forums.
Escalation Management: Direct processes for reviewing progress, resolving escalated issues, and making informed and timely decisions
Project Oversight & Reporting: Provide senior-level oversight, delivering accurate and insightful reporting to enable decision-making and accountability.
Strategic Alignment: Align governance with project objectives, commercial frameworks, and Metrolinx requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective participation of client, contractor, and delivery partner representatives in governance forums.
Risk & Control Integration: Strengthen transparency, control, and accountability across decision-making forums to support proactive risk management.
Implementation Planning: Develop and oversee plans to operationalize governance changes, including new decision-making forums.
Integration with Digital Team: ensuring alignment and transparency across the program.
Line Management of Governance Coordinator
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PROSCI, CM-Lean) considered an asset.
10+ years of experience in governance, program management, or organizational leadership on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven expertise in governance framework development, risk oversight, and stakeholder management.
Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships.
Measure of Success
Delivery of governance frameworks that are transparent, accountable, and consistently applied.
Timely resolution of escalated issues through structured processes.
Agreed, implemented and monitored delegations of authority to underpin governance frameworks.
Clear documentation of roles, responsibilities, and authority across the governance framework.
Stakeholder confidence in decision-making forums and reporting outputs.
Demonstrated alignment of governance processes with Metrolinx standards and project objectives.
