Safety / EHS Specialist WEIR Minerals Elliot Lake ON/Sudbury ON -Onsite Purpose of the role: The Safety/EHS Specialist is a permanent fulltime role that reports to the Safety/SHE manager and assists with planning, developing, administering and implementation of safety programs across Canada. Key Responsibilities Conduct and/or direct operational audits and assessments as required. Ensure policies and procedures are established, prepared, implemented, revised, and maintained to meet current and known future requirements. Provide leadership for developing and directing safety initiatives Travel up to 50% of the time to other company locations within Eastern Canada as required. Support the sites to ensure compliance with customer, corporate, governmental, and third-party safety, and environmental standards. Qualifications A diploma in Health and Safety from an accredited college or university is a must. A bachelor's degree in a related field is considered an asset. Experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 would be considered an asset. Safety certification is considered an asset (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CMIOSH, CHSC, etc.) Awareness in client databases is considered an asset (Avetta, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, etc.) Incident investigation training certification. Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) training certification is considered an asset. Standard First Aid or higher certification. 3+ years experience as a safety professional.
