JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Journeyman, Facilities Maintenance plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facilities at Grouse Mountain Resort. In addition to performing the full scope of journeyman-level maintenance duties, this role will assume oversight of the department, providing leadership and support when the Facilities Maintenance Manager is unavailable. The Lead Journeyman also acts as a mentor for apprentices and new staff, fostering skill development and a culture of teamwork.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform skilled journeyman-level maintenance and repair work across plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general facility systems
Act as a second-in command for the Facilities Maintenance Manager, providing leadership and decision-making support when required
Respond to off-hours and emergency maintenance calls, as needed
Mentor, train, and support apprentices and new staff to ensure safe work practices, skill development, and professional growth
Assist in scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating maintenance projects to minimize operational disruption
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and recommend solutions to extend the lifespan of assets
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
Promote safe work practices, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies
Collaborate with other departments to ensure facilities meet operational and guest service standards
Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role has supervisory duties of the facilities team members.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Journeyman certification in a recognized trade (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry)
5+ years of experience in facility or building maintenance, with proven journeyman-level expertise
Must be available for on-call rotation or emergency response
Demonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring or training apprentices preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Flexibility to respond to off-hours calls and emergencies as required
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks including climbing and working in confined spaces.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$45.65 to $49.65/hour
