Digital Solutions Specialist - NETE (Position 06-721) Weir Canada Inc., Weir Marine Engineering Halifax, NS Hybrid Purpose of Role: Weir Marine Engineering has a requirement for a Digital Solutions Specialist to assist our clients in the Department of National Defence (DND) in advancing their Digital Solutions efforts. The focus of the work will be on identifying current digital capabilities, assessing gaps and recommending solutions, developing digital frameworks, assisting with rollouts, providing user and system support, and evaluating user adoption. This challenging position involves working closely with our DND clients, with an expectation of some work being performed on-site in Halifax and the rest of the work performed remotely (telework). The activity has initial funding to 31 March 2027, but it is expected that the work will be renewed for subsequent periods. Although this opportunity is aimed at a consultant/contractor, an employment arrangement could also be considered. Collaborate with stakeholders to align digital initiatives. Solution Architecture and Design: Develop secure, scalable and interoperable digital frameworks. Create architecture diagrams, data models, security plans, dashboards and reports. Build and configure tools using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure and other relevant technologies. Deployment and Change Enablement: Assist with the testing of the solutions and with phased roll-outs, pilot programs and organizational change management. Monitor and report on usage and collect feedback. User Enablement and Operational Support: Deliver onboarding and coaching sessions, develop job aids and other training material, provide user support and technical support, assist with system updates and performance tuning. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: More than ten years of experience developing and implementing digital solutions for large enterprise or government, with at least five years of experience implementing solutions employing Microsoft (MS) tools and services. Technical knowledge areas expected: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft (MS) 365, Power Platform and Azure; Strong knowledge of other related technologies and tools such as MS Power Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Explorer (BEx); Experience with SAP and SAP tools such as Business Objects (BOBJ) would be an asset; and Experience with data modelling, process modelling and process optimization tools would be a strong asset. General knowledge areas expected: Digital transformation in large organizations; Leveraging data to create business value; Experience with architecture diagrams, data models and security plans; Conducting workshops with stakeholders to identify and document requirements and proposed solutions; and Experience with the DND/CAF and/or in the defence industry would be an asset. Soft skills: Dynamic person with the ability to work under pressure on multiple initiatives in parallel; Good at listening, guiding and mentoring; Fast learner who can absorb and understand the requirements, project landscape and current processes, and apply knowledge of technologies to identify high-impact digital solutions; Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written); and Motivated and takes pride in their work. Canadian citizenship, with 10 or more years residing in Canada with no periods longer than six continuous months out of country, is absolutely necessary as part of the requirements to obtain a government security clearance to the minimum level of Secret.
