The Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for deploying and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud networking solutions. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and security of cloud-based infrastructure. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional IT teams to integrate cloud networking with existing systems and applications, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards. Continuous learning and staying current with emerging cloud networking technologies are crucial for driving innovation and operational excellence. Additionally, this role involves continuous improvement by staying updated with the latest cloud networking technologies and best practices.
What will you do?
Design, Deploy and Maintain On-Premise, Microsoft Azure and AWS network infrastructure
Construct and engineer networking solutions based on architectural designs.
Recommend changes to services within the direct scope of operations and the Cloud and Platform Operations team.
Work closely with teams, such as IT Operations, Cloud Centre of Excellence, Architecture, and Security, to ensure the efficient and secure implementation of cloud network services.
Work autonomously in setting objectives based on direction from a lead, manager, or director.
Supporting and maintaining Azure and AWS network infrastructure
Utilize Terraform code to deploy all Azure and AWS networking resources
Strong knowledge of building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
Automation, deployment, management, and maintenance of Azure and Aws cloud-based networking.
Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of Azure and AWS networking infrastructure.
Establish and create, logging, monitoring metrics, and configuration of production systems using Dynatrace and other native Aws and Azure cloud services.
Designing and administering virtual network components in the cloud infrastructure.
Document all diagrams, policies, and procedures for newly deployed systems and review yearly.
Disaster Recovery and Network Business Continuity
Performing and assisting in the solution of disaster recovery operations when required.
Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
Collaborating with Infrastructure architects on network design objectives.
Configuring and supporting B2B, IPSEC VPN connections with external parties.
Security Management:
Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
Coordinating and with security team on implementing network security principles and guidelines.
Administering and maintaining network security components including Firewalls, WAF, and NAC.
Collaboration and Support
Work closely with other IT teams to integrate cloud network solutions with existing systems and applications.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems including router, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and VPN concentrators.
Maximizing network performance by monitoring activity and utilizing observability tools such as Dynatrace and Azure monitoring.
Monitoring and maintenance of company-wide AV (Audio-Video) infrastructure – such as conference rooms, collaboration spaces etc.
Serve as the on-call network engineering for after-hours escalation issues as part of the company on-call rotation schedule.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
What will you need to succeed in this role?
Undergraduate degree in Network Engineering or related field with One of the Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, AZ-700
Minimum 3 years of experience with CISCO networking
Minimum 2 years of working experience in AWS and Azure networking
Minimum 5 years of experience in deploying, maintaining, and managing Palo Alto firewalls
Minimum 2 years DevOps experience
Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE
AZ-700 certification is highly desirable
Minimum 3 years of in-depth understanding of IP networking, including routing, routing protocols, switching, addressing, security access control, network monitoring/management concepts, wireless technologies, LAN technologies, layer 2/3 technologies, and QoS.
Minimum 3 years of in-depth understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, multi-site architecture, data center design, virtualization, network and network security, bandwidth design, firewalls, load-balance and traffic management technology is a must.
Minimum 3 years of operational and deployment experience of firewalls and have been exposed to VPNs on those platforms.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the following areas: Performance Monitoring, WAN optimization, DMZ deployment environments, Linux and network switching
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in on-prem, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
In-depth understanding of IP networking, including routing, routing protocols, switching, addressing, security access control, network monitoring/management concepts, wireless technologies, LAN technologies, layer 2/3 technologies, and QoS.
In-depth understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, multi-site architecture, data center design, virtualization, network and network security, bandwidth design, firewalls, load-balance and traffic management technology is a must.
Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, vpn solutions, routers, switches, and controllers.
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
Security Skills: Experience with network security tools and practices.
Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
Administer and maintain network security components, including Firewalls, WAF, and NAC.
Coordinate with the security team on documenting and implementing network security principles and guidelines.
Experience with network security tools and practices.
Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Taking the technical network lead on high visibility incidents and supporting users on solving existing system problems.
