Capital Power is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader for our Director, Major Contracts, Operations position. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive enterprise-wide value by building strong relationships with major parts and service suppliers and overseeing high-stakes contracts that power our expanding fleet. This role is designed for a senior-level expert with substantial experience in the procurement or delivery of long-term service agreements (LTSAs), whether from the buyer or supplier side. In this role you will have the opportunity to collaborate across teams, lead and support the formation of critical agreements, and shape the future of our operations. You will contribute to our team by: Serving as the internal specialist on LTSA structure, risk allocation, and negotiation tactics on a plant, regional, and fleet-wide basis. Coordinating LTSA formation, renewal, and renegotiation strategies across our gas turbine fleet. Collaborating with operations, commercial, and legal teams to ensure favorable contract outcomes. Aligning LTSA terms with fleet outage and maintenance planning, business strategy, and fleet-wide standards. Conducting LTSA-related assessments during acquisition due diligence, evaluating service contract structures, risk exposure, and re-contracting optimization opportunities. Supporting negotiations with suppliers on all aspects of contractual agreements. Managing procurement of Gas Turbine Capital Parts and Major Equipment service contracts. Fostering strong relationships with internal support areas and working to ensure accurate implementation of legal, HSSE, insurance, credit, tax, and finance requirements in contracts. Researching and resolving contractual issues, negotiating with internal and external partners. What you will bring to the role: Education: Post-secondary degree in business, technical, legal, supply chain management, or a related field. Educational equivalency may be considered. Experience: 10+ years in the power generation industry. Experience managing long-term parts and service agreements for gas turbines is required. This includes negotiating contract terms, overseeing supplier performance, managing lifecycle costs, and ensuring alignment with operational and maintenance strategies. Experience working with OEMs or major service providers in the gas turbine industry is highly desirable. Strong understanding of contract principles, structure, and language. Technical Skills: Ability to bridge technical, commercial, and operational perspectives in written agreements. High reading comprehension level and strong technical writing skills. Understanding of gas turbine maintenance, operation, and performance. Proficiency in contract law, understanding of electric power industry contracting practices, and working knowledge of engineering principles related to gas turbines and thermal power plants. Proficiency with Office 365 tools, Ironclad or equivalent contract management solutions. Familiarity with risk management skills and tools. Working Conditions: Hybrid Office/Work from home position. Minimal travel may be required within North America to meet with internal and external contacts across the fleet.
