The Copper Mountain Mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking for Assayer in Assay Lab at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour shift; Day shift.
Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location
Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Laboratory General Supervisor, the Assayer is responsible for the accurate and timely quantitative and chemical analysis of various samples, including ores, concentrates, tailings, and process samples. This role is critical for quality control, grade determination, and supporting the mining operation.
Responsibilities
Practices Health, Safety, Environmental, and Copper Mountain culture in the Quality Department by participating in safety meetings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and upholding company policies and procedures,
Perform all stages of sample analysis (routine and non-routine), from initial preparation to final reporting, adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),
Conduct quantitative analysis for specific elements using techniques such as:
Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) or Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) for Base metals and precious metal finish,
Titration or other wet chemistry methods for specific elements (e.g., high-grade copper),
Leco for Carbon and Sulfur,
Sample dissolution using various acid digestions,
Fire Assay for precious metals,
Prepare reagents, standards, and blanks accurately,
Implement and maintain strict QA/QC protocols, including the use of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs), duplicates, and blanks,
Monitor instrument performance, perform daily calibrations, and conduct preventative maintenance,
Identifies and records any abnormal observations in the process, reporting them to the supervisor
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve analytical issues, unusual sample results, or equipment malfunctions,
Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., crushers, pulverizers, furnaces, and spectrometers),
Maintain meticulous and legible records of all analyses, raw data, calculations, and results,
Assist in maintaining inventory of consumables, chemicals, and reagents,
Ensure the laboratory work area is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and Input data using relevant computer software programs,
Perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience
A diploma or degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Technology, is typically required. Relevant professional certification is a plus,
Experience: Proven experience (e.g., 2+ years) working as an Assayer or Laboratory Technician, preferably in a mining or mineral analysis laboratory. Experience with fire assay is essential,
Solid understanding of laboratory QA/QC principles,
Intermediate computer skills with MS office, LIMS & PI,
Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment,
Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail,
High work ethics, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment,
Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.

Working Conditions
Work requires the employee to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing work,
Environment is susceptible to the weather as a combination of lab and fieldwork is required,
Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise, vibration, chemicals and working in dusty and wet environments,
Work requires the employee to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on uneven work surfaces and work on elevated platforms,
Role may require the employee to work a non-standard schedule which may include shift work (other than day shift) in a 24/7/365 operation,
Work will require to be clean-shaven.
Rate of Pay
$50.43/ Hour
