We’re looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator who’s passionate about creating safer workplaces and building a culture where everyone goes home healthy every day. In this shared role between our Lacombe County and Abbotsford facilities, you’ll play a key part in embedding safety excellence across two high-performing dairy operations — Western Dairy Processing (WDP) and Vitalus Nutrition Inc. (VNI).

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead and Strengthen Safety Programs
Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety programs that meet Alberta OHS and COR certification standards.
Align site safety programs with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Promote a Culture of Safety
Deliver engaging safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
Foster participation through coaching, positive reinforcement, and visible leadership support.
Partner with supervisors and the Joint Health & Safety Committee to enhance awareness and accountability.
Ensure Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and internal audits.
Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Track and analyze trends to proactively reduce risks.
Integrate Safety & Food Quality
Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Operations to align OHS with HACCP, GMP, and FSMS programs.
Support both internal and external audits, maintaining robust documentation and regulatory readiness.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field

OHS certification or diploma from a recognized institution

3–5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within a food manufacturing environment, preferably in the dairy industry

Proven ability to interpret and apply Alberta OHS legislation and regulatory standards

Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations

Strong communication, analytical, and report-writing skills

Intermediate First Aid certification (or higher) is an asset

Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and integrated management systems preferred
