Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: This position works with the Community Program Coordinator to ensure the Christmas Toy Program aligns with the overall mission and meets expectations of Community Services (Calgary). ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Warehouse Oversees staff and volunteers in warehouse space. Receives, tracks, and processes toy donations. Awareness of toy inventory levels and needs. Keeps warehouse space tidy. Prepares pallets of toys to go to Corps as required. Trains and supervises all warehouse volunteers. Communicates with Program Coordinator regarding donations and inventory. 2. Administrative Provides administrative support to the Community Program Coordinator and acts in his/her absence with respect to administrative functions. Maintains a safe and collegial office/work area. Assists with the troubleshooting of any issues/problems that occurred throughout the program Assists with planning and coordination of the Christmas Toy Program and each of the activities within the program. Communicates with clients via phone, email, and in person regarding appointments and registration as required. Performs general office duties such as answering the telephone, taking messages, responding to inquiries, organizing and maintaining office files and records as required. 3. Program responsibilities: As delegated by Community Program Coordinator, assists in Christmas warehouse as required and will assist supporting volunteers (Shoppers/Client Intake/Sorting and stocking of Toys etc.) As delegated by Community Program Coordinator, coordinates Angel Tags project by distributing information packages, receiving and processing Angel Tag applications, sorting and preparing Angel Tags for mail out and delivery, arranging mail out and delivery with Centre of Hope and Christmas Program Driver, and coordinating toy donation pickup/drop-off Maintains logs of inventory of toys. Must be available for all distribution/shopping days. Participates in end-of-season debrief. WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is a temporary full-time position at 40 hours per week until January 16, 2026. This position will work primarily in our Christmas warehouse area. They will work in a typical office environment as well as in the Christmas warehouse area. Available to work during the week, weekends, during the day and/or evenings. Note that time off will not be approved from Dec 15-Dec 24. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: High school diploma, or equivalent Specialized courses of up to six (6) months from a Business College, or equivalent is an asset. Must be willing to receive training and be licenced on Reach truck and stacker. Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Two years of related experience or working in customer service Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) Pallet jack experience is an asset. Volunteer coordination experience is an asset Skills and Capabilities Valid driver’s license Highly organized and motivated self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Ability to be on feet for extended periods. Ability to lift to 40+ lbs. Ability to solve problems and collaborate to complete tasks. Capable of multitasking and moving quickly and consistently; ability to perform under tight deadlines. Ability to think critically and be creative and flexible to challenges that arise. Ability to lead a team of volunteers. Displays a positive outlook and enjoys working within a team. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $20.87 to $26.08 with a maximum of $31.30. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
